Win
Talent, Kat's
Cafe, and Yen would like to give a special thank you to all who
attended Yen's CD Release Party this past Saturday night. It
was
standing room only at Kat's Cafe. Spoken word artist Gigi and Fox 5
Reporter Kiet Do took turns hosting the show.
JB Austin
opened up the
night with his Latin influenced acoustic soul performance.
Then
Vinx hypnotized the audience with his velvety rich voice and Afro-Jazz
music.
The crowd
was waiting
with anticipation as Kiet gave a passionate introduction on why he
admired Yen as an artist, and as a person. Yen came on stage
to
cheering and applause. The power of his voice easily filled
the
room and filled the hearts and souls of all those in attendance as he
performed his gospel influenced neo-soul song "Where Do We Go From
Here."
Yen later
brought his
wife Bien on stage to perform their duet "Let Me Hold You," a song
about a couple fighting and then making up. The crowd was
touched
by their performance and Yen heard encores of "I want to hear that song
again!" When Yen sang his emotionally explosive tribute to
his
father with the song, "My Calling."
Right
before the
intermission, Yen brought "H" (former choreographer for Aaliyah) on
stage to show the crowd some dance moves. "H" danced to DJ
Vando's remix of Yen's song "Take It Off."
During the
intermission,
Yen spent time talking to fans and signing CD's. He was also
interviewed by Knyte of Neo-Soul T.V. So be on the lookout
for
that interview soon!
Yen's
second music set
included a request for donations to V.O.I.C.E. and an Yen finished the
night off performing "Beauty" as ladies from the Vietnamese Students
Association walked the runway in variations of the traditional
Vietnamese dress. Last but not least, a special fan was
brought
on stage to sing with him on "This Christmas."
Yen is
currently
finalizing dates for future performances and will be posting his tour
schedule soon. Hope to see you there!
